Picking the Right Clearwater Beach Photography
Picking the right Clearwater Beach Photography is important. It can be tempting to just pick the first one or pick the one that is the cheapest but you’ll be much happier if you pick the right one for you and your family. Here’s a few tips to keep in mind so that you get family portraits that you will cherish for years.
Beach Photography is not easy
At first glance, you might think that family portraits on the beach are easy… there’s plenty of light and plenty of space, right? Actually, it’s exactly the opposite. A great beach photographer understands how to work with whatever situation is thrown at them. Bright sun, overcast, sunset…. all of these situations are drastically different and require skill and experience to work with. Add to that the fact that the sun is setting and so you only have a few minutes to get all your images and you have a situation that is not for the faint of heart.
Beach photography posing is important
Beach Photography on Clearwater Beach is unique because there is no place to sit, really. So your photographer needs to be experienced in putting groups together quickly and working with extended family. Knowing how to stand and what to do with your hands can make the difference between a wonderful family heirloom and a cellphone snapshot. At the same time, knowing when to be more casual is important too.
Lighting is everything with beach photography
I can’t stress enough how much good lighting will make a difference in your family beach portraits. If you want to see that beautiful sunset, you’ll need to be lit. If you want the water behind you on a sunny day, you’ll need to be lit. During your session we will use natural light sometimes and flash other times. It all depends on what is happening with the sun, the location, time of day and other factors. Now, here’s the tricky part: The flash should not be on the camera. I don’t want to get too technical but just take my word for it: Beach portraits taken with the flash on the camera will not be as beautiful as ones taken with the flash on a stand off to the side. Think about it… have you ever had your picture taken in a studio or at school where the light was on the camera? No… and that’s because it’s the worst place to have the light. There are a hundred photographers out there….. pick one who knows how to light.
Experienced beach photography is invaluable
This really can’t be stressed enough. It takes years of work and hundreds of sessions on the beach before a photographer is able to get great family portraits on the sand no matter what. The staff at Clearwater Beach portraits has been photographing families on the beach for a very long time. We’ve seen it all and photographed it all! We try to keep our prices as affordable as possible but the decision is up to you. Look at our images and look at the other photographers and choose the one who you think will do the best job for you and your family. As long as you’re happy, we’re happy. 🙂
